Update

Where I am at: I have planned out the structure of my installation. -        Rows of different plates -           Different forms of raw beef on each plate – pattys, meatballs, steak, sausages etc -           Kiwi style (without being cliché) -           Have experimented with fake meat – got the recipe and tried it out -           Am in the process of perfecting the look of the fake meat Am looking into successful website models – simple, easy to use, look, feel, style, eco conscious without being cliché What needs to be done: Finalise the look of my fake meat and produce 80 of them Resin dip all meat. (talk to Lynn Garrett first) Collect Kiwi plates for installation – Thrift shops Do a photography shoot of each plate and also a pan vid of all the meat on...

SuperCrit with Lee Week 6

Today's SuperCrit - With Lee Comments: Need to figure out if this is actually possible to do - physically May need to do it as a video - pan across a long banquet table of all the meat Maybe show it less repetitively - not all steaks, maybe different versions of beef eg, patties, sausages, etc Think about maybe 1 big plate? could be perceived as 80 different peoples meals as apposed to 1 persons meal 80 times.. making it 'Kiwiana feel' (not cliche kind) sounds good It is impactful which is good. Where is it going? Think about locations and where/how it will work Think about the weather, will it withstand the weather? Maybe make moulds for mass production?  Is this task too big to tackle? Do you have enough time? Think about the website and its look/feel/message. Make sure your website and your installation both say the same thing with sustainability - eg, make sure your installation is made with sustainable/eco friendly products or you will create a confli...

Cow vs Car Methane/Co2 levels

A typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year . (4,700,000 grams Co2) a typical cow emits on average 375,000 grams Methane  a day  (the equivalent of 11,250,000 grams Co2) Methane is 30x more damaging to the Ozone layer than Co2

Proposal into Action - Plan

WHAT Use VCD (installation and Web based platform) to inform and encourage behavior change in food consumption – specifically beef and dairy WHY As the population grows, so does our consumption. We are running out of land and destroying the environment, increasing global warming.  If we want to continue living on earth, consumption habits need to change/improve.  By consuming excessive amounts of beef and dairy, the need for more and larger cattle and dairy farms increases. This has extremely damaging effects on the environment as cows produce incredibly large amounts of Methane which destroys the Ozone layer speeding up global warming. HOW By informing Millennials and showing them how much they consume I intend to shock/surprise them. The idea is they will realise their personal effect on the environment due to eating/consuming/purchasing beef and dairy products and take action as an individual as opposed to throwing it in the “too hard basket”.  Hope...
